This seven-part 2022 ESPN Films documentary miniseries examines the life and career of New York Yankees legend and captain, Derek Jeter . The series explores Jeter’s youth and biracial identity, his draft to the MLB in 1992, his friendship with Alex Rodriguez and more. Executive produced by Mike Tollin alongside Spike Lee, the series is directed by Randy Wilkins. Wilkins interviewed Jeter for over 30 hours and more than 90 people for the series. ‘The Captain’ premiered at the Tribeca Festival June 2022 and at Yankee Stadium.
